The XPG launch
The launch of the XPG (Cross Party Group) by Euralarm thefederation of Fire & Security Installers and Manufacturers willtake place in the European Parliament on the 28th March 2006. It isour intention that the XPG is presented as a single point ofcontact to the Members of Parliament to discuss all aspects of theEuropean Fire & Security industry.
The wider world of Fire and Security embraces an exceptionallybroad range of products, solutions, applications and services, italso transcends a business that is global and European whilstremaining intrinsically local?the profession serves us all.
The Fire and Security profession has a common goal: To protecthuman life, property and environment from disaster and violentattacks (arson, burglary, assault, terrorism, vandalism).
Euralarm not only is working for ?One Stop Certification? onmanufactured products it has identified the need for MEP?s to alsohave a one stop point of contact to liaise with the relevantdecision makers within the ?Wider World of Fire &Security?.
With the support of MEP Geoffrey van Orden ? Euralarm has takenthe initiative to found the XPG, the European platform to lobby anddiscuss the interests of the Fire and Security profession with theMembers of European Parliament and authorities in the EuropeanCommission that affect our business.
The XPG platform is offered to all stakeholders of the industry,the support of members will give this platform the ability todevelop into ?THE? recognized voice for the Fire and Securityprofession within the EU parliament.
The Product Range: Electronic Fire and Intruder alarm systems,Access Control systems, Video Surveillance systems, MechanicalLocks and Safes, Extinguishing Equipment, Sprinkler Systems,Evacuation Controls, Smoke and Heat Vent Systems and theInterconnection or Integration of these products and systems withBuilding Automation Systems (HVAC), etc.
The Service Providers: Fire Brigades, Police, Installation &Maintenance Companies, Operators of Monitoring Stations and ARC?s(Alarm Receiving Centres), Project Engineering Services, etc.
The Standards: Application codes and product certifications:local codes of practice and applications, EN and local productstandards, like fire brigade terminals, national and internationalquality labels, and local certification processes, etc.
The Market: Residential to high end buildings, industry, hotels,public buildings, airplanes, ships, voluntary and regulatorymarkets, etc.
