Gas Infrastructure Europe

Welcome

GasInfrastructure Europe - GIE, the independent and nonprofit association representing the European gas infrastructure industry was established in March 2005 on the basis of Gastransmission Europe - GTE established in July 2000. GIE represents the interest of the infrastructure industry in the natural gas business such as Transmission System Operators (TSOs), Storage System Operators (SSOs) and liquefied natural gas Terminal Operators.

GIE has currently 60 members in 27 European countries. The GIE members transport gas in pipelines, store gas in underground storages and/or regasify liquefied natural gas in LNG terminals. The members of GIE are active in a crucial part of the gas chain. They are facilitating competition in the gas market and play an essential role in securing the supply of natural gas in Europe. Transport and storage of natural gas as well as LNG terminals are key infrastructures for the supply of natural gas to the end consumer.

GIE general challenge is to promote a stable, reliable and consistent regulatory framework, fostering sound investment climate and security of supply.

GIE provides one voice for infrastructure operators across Europe and enables issues affecting transmission, storage and LNG to be addressed. GIE is the umbrella organization for its three columns:
